Poster Design

The idea for this project came from the desire to create a work about one of my favorite films – one of the best films I had seen up to that point. It was quickly clear: it should be a movie poster. I then set myself the actual challenge: to work completely without AI and instead use real skin as a design material. The task was to depict scars and burned marks in such a way that they simultaneously form words – and thus make the wordplay in the title "Under the Skin" literally visible. The path to get there was largely analog: I first drew the scar structures by hand on paper to find the right texture and irregularity that characterizes real skin. I then digitized these drawings in Photoshop and traced over them. Over several layers – with light, shadow, structure, and color gradients – I edited the whole thing so that in the end the impression of real, injured skin emerges, rather than an obviously digital illustration. In terms of content, the poster deals with the central themes of the film: alienation, identity, and the question of what it actually means to be human. It follows Scarlett Johansson's character – an extraterrestrial being in a human body who becomes increasingly alienated from herself. It was precisely this feeling of "being a stranger in one's own body" that I wanted to convey through the skin texture and the inscribed words. The result is a work that, while already two years old, remains one of the most personal for me to this day – because it shows how much craftsmanship and conceptual thinking are possible even without the use of AI tools.
